International Baccalaureate MYP
Middle school students have a variety of interests and needs. Our 21st Century learners must develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills to compete actively and responsibly in an ever changing world. The IB Middle Years Programme encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is designed to help students find a sense of belonging in the ever-changing and increasingly interrelated world around them and to foster a positive attitude to learning.
In May of 2011, Carson Middle School received authorization from IBO. Carson Middle School is an IB World School offering the Middle Years Programme.
In December of 2014, Greene County High School also received authorization from IBO authorization from IBO, and is offering the Middle Years Programme.
The IB programme is made up of eight subject groups joined through five areas of interaction that provide a structure for learning within and across the subjects. Students are required to study their mother tongue, a second language, humanities, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical education and technology. IB learners strive to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective.
